Marae Name: Paraweka
Paraweka Marae has been closed since level 4 and will have its Marae meeting by zoom next week with all trustees followed by physical meeting on 14 June. Due to Covid 19 a number a number of changes will be discussed at this meeting to include reopening of marae.
Activities in our Community
During lockdown level 4 our kaumatua within the community received on weekly basis food parcels from Ngati Rangi Te Pae Tata. These food parcels ceased when level two was implemented and kaumatua also received a sanitation pack.
Packs were also available and given to those in our community who required them.
Additional food packs
Our thanks to our Te Ao Marama whanau who gave our kaumatua a food parcel last week just before the long weekend.
Also to Tupoho for the 2 x 20kg boxes of pork sausages that were delivered to the marae last week by Des Canterbury these will be distributed throughout our community and whats left over will be retained for the marae. Just arrived tonight (2/6/20) 10 boxes of pork consisting of pickled pork, leg roasts which will be distributed to those in our community, whole leg roasts and shoulder roasts for the marae again thanks to Tupoho and Des for delivery.
Flu vaccinations for Kaumatua
28 March flu vaccinations for all our kaumatua was organised with Ruapehu Health who came down to Pipiriki to administer.
Covid 19 testing
Testing for all in our community was carried out at Pipiriki by WHB staff and Ruapehu Health two days after the country went to Level 2.
Pipiriki Playground
Work had commenced on the playground but came to halt at Level 4 however work has continued through Level 3 and 2.
More work to be done around beautification around the playground by community and Pipiriki Inc to include native planting and fruit trees, also speed bumps to be put in before opening of the playground.
