JERUSALEM-HIRUHĀRAMA

RON HOUGH

Tēnā Koutou Katoa

As one of the whānau of Ngāti Hau, a representative on the Tamaūpoko rūnanga and a Kaumatua of our Jerusalem Marae, I am in support of TCLT and our community rep, Darleen Tume, who is our voice and our advocate for community-based projects specific to our needs.

I thank the Department of Internal Affairs for the CLDP resourcing and the intent and opportunities to help us grow ourselves within our isolated communities.

We, as a community, are grateful for Daryn and his workers and the progress that they have made despite the challenges they have faced.

This latter part of the year has seen the beginning of better things to come especially for our young parents and their tamariki. These parents have sacrificed their time to be part of a vision that are they creating themselves.

I strongly believe, it is important that the CLDP panel continues to resource the program to ensure its benefits for us living at-home in Hiruhārama and in the other settlement communities of Tamaūpoko.
