OUR PEOPLE

The 64km long Whanganui River Road is made up of eight settlement communities which are spread alongside the lower reaches of the Whanganui River.

There is a strong sense of communal spirit, which enables those living at-home to pursue their dreams and aspirations by working together for whānau wellbeing and community connectedness.

Lack of employment opportunities has been a concern for some time now however there has been a recent resurgence of whānau returning home and travelling into town for work and secondary schooling.

This has been made possible by the ongoing upgrading and maintenance of the Whanganui River Road.

Our awa people have had the chance to lead change through the community-led development programme offered by the Department of Internal Affairs.

WHĀNAU, STAY INVOLVED, KEEP EVOLVING.

OUR TRUSTEES (GOVERNANCE)

Our trustees were elected by their respective community residents. They each live within their settlements and are passionate and committed to assisting community-led development projects and programmes being implemented and completed.

OUR STAFF (OPERATIONS)

The team consists of nine workers (the CEO has a part-time position), each of whom, carries delegated roles and responsibilities to be as effective as possible for the settlement communities we serve and work within.
